Vishnu Maya Swami – The Story

Koolivaaka

There is a tribal monarch in the Koolikunnan jungle who has a lovely daughter named Mayakoolivakha (Also pronounced Kulivaka/ Koolivaaka)

Koolivaaka & Lord Shiva

While out hunting, Lord Shiva heard a sweet voice in the jungle. He was taken aback when he discovered it belonged to a native girl named “Kulivaka” (pronounced Koolivaaka), who was stunning. The Lord was enthralled by the isolation of the woodland area known as Kuli van, as well as the natural beauty of the forest maiden. He told Kulivaka about his wish and advised her to keep an eye out for him when he returned from his hunt.

Koolivaaka & Goddess Parvati Devi

Kulivaka, a Parvati devotee, recognised that mating with Lord would bring the goddess’s wrath onto her; nevertheless, she also feared Shiva’s wrath if she refused him. She prayed to her Goddess to help her get out of the situation. Parvati came in front of her, pleased with her innocence, and revealed her actual identity. Kulivaka was previously known as Manaswini, a servant in Parvati’s retinue. Ganesha, who was a baby at the time, was breastfed by her one day. Parvati was irritated by the fact that her infant was being breastfed by a servant. Manaswini was cursed by her Parvati to be born into a chandala (outcaste) family. Parvati’s rage subsided, and she felt sorry for Manaswini.Devi Parvati praised her, saying that even though she was born as a chandala, she would be able to breastfeed Shiva’s kid. Devi revealed that her meeting with Lord Shiva and his passion for Koolivaka was predetermined by fate. She told the girl that she would disguise herself as Koolivaka and deceive Lord Shiva. She also told Koolivaka that the child conceived from such an union would be Jalandhara’s killer, a mighty Asura. She sent the innocent girl away, thus revealing the course of fate.

Swami Vishnu Maya born

The pseudo Koolivaka started swinging on a vine attached to a jackfruit tree as she awaited Lord Shiva’s arrival. Their union resulted in the birth of a celestial baby. Lord Shiva arranged for the safety of the infant to be provided by a buffalo. Koolivaka was entrusted with the care of this holy infant, who became known as Chathan. As a result, Koolivaka became the mother of Chathan, Lord Shiva’s son who fulfilled Parvati’s wish. Chathan spent nearly seven years with Koolivaka. The tribals adored the young kid who had rescued them from numerous dangers. He roamed the jungle riding his buffalo and playing a musical instrument known as “Ezhara”.

Swami Vishnu Maya at Kailash

The tribals celebrated his seventh birthday with a feast. The sage Narada showed himself during the feast. He revealed Chathan the truth about his birth. Chathan was also instructed by Narada to pay a visit to his true parents in Kailash. He also revealed the purpose for Chathan’s birth. Chathan began his journey to Kailash with his foster mother’s and friends permission. He travelled to Kailash on his buffalo. He understood as he was about to reach Kailash that Nandikeshwara would not allow him to enter Kailash in his current form. As a result, he assumed the form of Lord Vishnu. Shiva and Parvati were overjoyed to meet their son and hugged him. Lord Shiva bestowed blessings on him, stating, “Maya(magic). helped you invoke Vishnu’s form. As a result, you’ll be known as Vishnu Maya ” He also taught him the art of combat and how to slay Jalandhara (an asura who had been harassing the Devas).

Swami Vishnu Maya and Asura Jalandhara

Jalandhara was an asura who was terrorising the three worlds (Heaven, Pathala (Nether World), and Earth) after receiving a boon from Indra.
Chathan challenged him into a fight. After a bloody battle, Chathan used his Maya to transform into Sudarsana Chakra and followed Jalandhara. He ran away and hid in the oceans when he realised he was in danger. Chathan as Chakra followed Jalandhara in oceans The water where Jalandhara was hiding began to boil due to the heat of the ferociously rotating Chakra.Jalndhara came out, unable to bear the heat, and was swiftly beheaded. Thus, came the end of Jalandhara. The Devas recognised Chathan’s power after his slaying of Jalandhara. He was invited to Heaven by Indra. Chathan, on the other hand, declined the offer, claiming that his place was among the poor who required his protection. Chathan went back to his tribe.

Swami Vishnu Maya and 390 Chattans

Once Briga, a powerful Asura, came across Koolivaka in the forest and wanted to marry her. He’d arrived with a strong force and attempted to kidnap her. The raid was stopped by Chathan and his trusty disciple “Karimkutty.”
Chathan was hurt during the battle. There were 400 “Kuttichathans” born from the blood that fell to the earth. Briga used ten Brahmastras against Chathan, 10 Kuttichathans heroically swallowed the weapon and gave up their lives, sensing his imminent defeat. The army was beaten by the remaining 390 Kuttichathans, while Chathan killed Briga with his Kuruvadi (short Stick).
